alter ego: counterpart: second self
a) one remarkably similar to another b) one having the same function or characteristics as another
True Blood is structured around character pairings. Each major character and some minor ones have alter egos who share many characteristics and find themselves in very similar situations. Studying these pairings can provide insight into the characters and also allow us to make predictions about upcoming seasons. The Eric/Jason pairing was established in Part 1. The full analysis of Jason’s season one storyline in Part 2, which forshadows Eric’s by one year, sets the pattern that allows us to predict Eric’s storylines in seasons three and four from Jason’s story in season two.
As always, all ideas and opinions are welcome. Please let me know if you see something unfolding differently or have insights into the predictions I have left blank.
