Time Issues
1. The murder dates don’t line up with the date for the Dallas bombing unless the two week gap at the end of s1 is removed from the timeline. If it is, Dawn was murdered the 27th as Bud said.
2. If Dawn was murdered on the 27th, Maudette was killed on the 24th. There is still an unexplained discrepancy between the timeline and the date Bud said Maudette was murdered, the 23rd.
3. There is also a discrepancy between the night Bud and Sookie think Mack went to the hospital. Bud thinks it was n2 but Sookie thinks it was n1.
4. Eric believes Bill gave Sookie blood night 1, but Sookie thinks it was n2.

This raises other issues, especially with secondary characters. I believe Bill has manipulated Sookie’s memories of them. The most notable evidence of this was the costumes in s3. Some characters were dressed for winter while others were dressed for summer. Sookie, the narrator, lost her sense of time because she has been glamoured or bewitched to the point where her grasp of reality is no better than Ginger’s.

There was a real problem with storyline for true Blood between Episodes 9 and 11. Mainly, Sookie either thinks that Bill was arrested and taken against his will to stand trial for murdering a vampire and she is worried that things might work out badly for him and he is gone two night or she thinks he has voluntarily left her alone with a potential killer because “vampire politics are more important”
These two storyline can’t exist at the same time – as they are direct conflict to each other. They ignored this conflict in the final episode and pull the story back together but it was huge writing error.

Some characters are dressing for cold weather based on the SSN timeline of early Dec.
The rest are still dressed for the sweltering Louisiana heat since it’s supposed to be the end of July.

3.02 Andy takes Jason for 2nd lunch but the next scene is Merlotte’s crew prepping to open. Andy and Jason stay at Merlotte’s until after dark.
3.04 Jason says his crew has done a hard days work, but Arlene says it’s only lunch time. Andy and Jason stay at Merlotte’s until after dark. The clock reads 12:20, but Bud’s retirement party seems to be taking place at 4:40 based on the John Deere ‘clock.’
In both cases Andy and Jason perceive the time to be much later than the Merlotte’s workers and end up spending all day there.

Renee, I have been rewatching the eps to far this season looking for the winter as opposed to summer clothing. I have started to see a pattern. When we see people dressed for winter they seem to be an indication of an dispair and death.
Tara’s costumes seem to follow her story line.
The Were’s in Bill’s care are dressed for different seasons. The driver and front seat passenger are dressed for winter as well as Coot. But the Swayze character is dressed for summer. The driver and passenger are dead.
Annn is dressed for winter. She is dead.
Tommy is dresses for winter when he is with they Mickens, but dresses for summer when he is with Sam.
QSA is dressed for winter. Eric is dressed for winter.
Alcide is dressed for winter. Franklin is dressed for winter.
Jason is dressed for winter until he meets Crystal, and then he’s dressed for summer again.
Sookie is dressed for summer. Lorena is dressed for summer. Jessica is dressed for summer.
I’m still watching though…

I had a breakthrough on the timeline today!
On the AVL site, they give 8/16/09 for the Dallas bombing. If the two week gap at the end of s1 is removed, then the Dallas bombing aligns perfectly with Bud’s date for Dawn’s murder.
This shortened timeline also makes much more sense of Ms Jeanette’s murder and why Sam suddenly freaked about returning MA’s money to her. Her body showed up a few days after MA arrived in town, not a few weeks, and Sam emptied his safe to pay MA back the day after he saw her in BT.
Those missing two weeks are nothing more than Bill’s mind manipulation of Sookie.

The calender page doesn’t change at all in s1. This could be a continuity error or an indication that the gap didn’t happen. Here’s a screen cap of it from the end of 1.12 after the gap.

The new month begins on Tuesday. Looking at the May, June, July, and August calendars for 2008 and 2009, only July of 2008 fits.
That would mean that Maudette and Dawn were killed at the end of June 2008, Sookie killed Rene on July 8, and, if there was a 2 week gap, Ms. Jeanette’s body turned up on July 22.

Osterby, every time I go to reply to your comment, I change my mind about what I want to say. LOL! I’m so confused! I think of something that points to a late summer setting for s1 and then I think of something that seems to contradict it.
In just one example, Arlene talks about the summer never breaking the day Dawn is killed, but Super Save A Bunch was set up for the beginning of summer, not the end of it. I’m at a loss.

IATM, we discussed Mike’s bashed head around here someplace. He was developing a nasty, very large bruise on his forehead in the s2 finale that was gone supposedly just a couple days later in s3. It’s the best evidence we have that there was a time jump of at least a couple weeks in the middle of the s2 finale.

When Sookie and Tara went back to work the next day after the wedding ritual, supposedly, Merlotte’s was clean and fully repaired from the Zombie invasion. It makes more sense that this happened a couple of weeks later as opposed to the next day to give them time to fix and clean the bar, and it makes more sense that Sam would take off to find his family a couple of weeks later rather than the next night. Of course this means Sookie and Tara ignored Gran’s house during this period of time as well, but I imagine if we think about it we could find a reason why they did this.

yea the Bill fan is saying that AB said only 8 weeks has passed between s1 & s2 & that s1 events are suppose to be in the year of 2008..
Basically no one renewed their registration in 2009 or 10 on time since they all expired.. & we are moving into the year 2011.. but we still is missing about 9 weeks that the Bill fans dont see..
Or…Sookie lost a lot more than 9 weeks. If Maudette and Dawn were murdered in June 2008 and season 1 ended sometime in July, Sam’s calendar would be correct.
The Dallas bombing occurred about a year later. Sam’s tag is consistent with the 8/16/09 date on the AVL site. The s3 tags would indicate that it is still ’09, but that more than 2 weeks went by from the bombing to the end of s3. Laffy’s 10/09 magazine, the date at FT, and the approaching end of football season would indicate Halloween isn’t too far away.
There is no way you’ll be able to convince a BL to buy this though. It’s a hard sell for most Eric lovers. LOL!

no, when the show started in 2008, we were watching the future (2010) but calling it the present day. i can remember now hearing that the year it was “set in” was 2010 but i kept thinking of it as “present day” so the stickers did not seem out of place.
at the very beginning Sookie had a sticker in her car window when she went to look at the Rattrays trailer in S1E3, in her time it was 2010 but the sticker said 06/08 and i saw it and thought “valid” when in fact it was expired in her time. (2010)
i just today saw Tara’s sticker in S1E1, it said 07/08 and i thought “valid” but in reality it was expired as I did not remember it was supposed to be 2010 in her time.
we have all along been watching the future unfold in front of us. we have not lost any days, just because we do not see them on a Sunday, events happen on a Saturday night and then we see something happen on a Monday does not really mean “we lost a day” we just had nothing exciting to see that day probably.

No… 2009 in Bon Temps happened before we ever got there…. There is no 2009 any more in Bon Temps.. 2009 is their past… We start on July 23, 2010, and go forward in time…
Honestly, if AB started TB ( Bon Temps time to be the year of 2010) then i’m thinking s2 was all past events??
This is just ridiculous. Ask this person for a link from anyone from 2008 or 2009 indicating that TB was set in 2010. All of the discussion has been the opposite. In 2009 and 2010 people were reminding each other that it was set in 2008.
Everyone’s tags were valid. Sam’s 2nd calendar page was July 2008, so Maudette was murdered in June. I’ve got a clearer image of the page, and the year is no longer in question.
The calendar at Sookie’s shows 200- so either ’08 or ’09. It is not 2010.
The person who said TB wasn’t showing days that weren’t pertinent doesn’t understand the structure of the show. Except for the supposed gap, there is not a single day that is skipped over. Each episode starts the same day the previous one ended.

Sookie never changed it after she died, so there is a better view from the end of s2 where you can make out the first 3 digits of the year. It’s definitely not 2010.

Renee, over at blood copy they show a post from Sept 14, 2008. It shows the “Welcome to Bon Temps” sign that Sookie and Jason see when they get back from Dallas. August 1, 2008 is a Friday, which matches the calendar.

Nope, July 2008 begins on a Friday, it matches the calendar on the fridge that MA is standing next to.

Thanks for the link! I’ve been playing around with this, too. Sam and Gran’s calendars are from two different years. As I just told IATM, on Sam’s calendar, in the clearer image, you can make out the mini-calendars for June and August of 2008. I don’t think you could build a strong case that this proves s1 started in 2008, but it does indicate that by s2, the month had changed from June to July.
Gran’s calendar tells us that TB started in June of 200X.
The year doesn’t match up to 2008. It’s either 2001 or 2007. I think that’s a continuity error. They just went with whichever calendar fit the decor of the kitchen and didn’t bother to modify it.

IDK. I think the assumption has to be that all the tags were current in s1. The game and blogs were written in real time, but it doesn’t mean those dates apply to the fictional story. I’m not sure we should mix the real time with the fictional timeline we’re being given.
To me, those tags set s1 in 2008, so vampires would have come out of the coffin in 2006. Gran’s calendar tells us it’s June. Bud tells us that it’s the end of June with the murders on the 23rd and 27th.
S2 the AVL tells us the date for the bombing 8/16/09. Some how a year has gone by or someone is being made to think that a year has gone by.
S3 the imagery points to a fall setting.

Why would everyone drive around with expired tags for two years? They would have all gotten numerous tickets.
So what’s going on? On the surface weeks are passing but the tags suggest years. I don’t think it’s a continuity error, I think it either means Sookie is losing years of time, OR she thinks years are passing when it’s only weeks. My guess is the latter, she thinks years are passing. Talbot hinted at this when he said ‘sometimes it seems like 7 million’ instead of 700. Or did he say ’7 thousand’? Regardless, I think Bill is manipulating her into thinking they’ve been together for a longer period than they have. It’s easier to stay committed to a person you’ve been with for several years than to stay with a person you’ve only known a few weeks, especially considering the massive trauma she’s suffered in such a short time.
Sunny, ordinarily, for all the reasons you enumerate, I’d say she thinks it’s longer than it is, but Sookie seems to be the one stuck in time while everything else is moving forward.
it hasent been two years or 1 full year yet on TB.. s1 was staged to be the year 2009..
it’s a year later after the vamps came out of the Coffin.. if the vamps came out of the Coffin in 2008 & Bill surfaces in Bon Temps a year later ( the story picks up from that point)..

Short answer…I think either the series started in 2008 and a year and a few months are missing or it started in 2009 and there’s a few months missing. I think the end of s3 occured in the fall of 2009 and AE will happen in January of 2010.
That would mean the Great Revelation occured in 2006, despite what the real world blog posts say.

Have we ever found a definate answer to the question…How long do license plate renewals last for in LA? If they are valid for two years, a tag renewed in 2008 would be valid until 2010.
Someone looked it up a couple months ago. They renew annually based on the month of purchase of the car.
Oh…thanks…I tried to look it up months ago and never found an absolute answer. But, yes, I remember seeing that the plates went by the purchase month of the vehicle. Our renew annually in Michigan too, some on our birthdays and some on purchase or lease month.
Renee, I think I have a breakthrough….I don’t think we can discount the BloodCopy.com website posts…the clips and infor provided there support TB. Just looking at the start and stop of the postings on Blood Copy.com a pattern emerged…
Bc.com’s first post is in May 2008 – Season 1 began in 2008. Sookie’s TB timeline picks up during the postings at BC.com.
Between Sept 15, 2008 unitl May 31, 2009 there are no posts on BC.com. Care to guess how much time that is lets count shall we…Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May:)

Renee, I am beginning to merge the calendars on my file. One think I am noticing is that the calendars are not making any sense.
Do you remember when Tara asks Sam why he and Terry never have to wear Marlotte’s t-shirts? Well, I am starting to lean in the direction of Sam doesn’t wear Merlotte’s t-shirts. We see Sam’s calendar when he is wearing a Merl;otte’s T-shirt with the month deliberately obscured.
When we see calendars, I think we are getting skewed information. As in Bill’s mind games.
Now that is reaaally interesting. Night 2 really jumps out at me right off the bat since that’s the first time he wore one.
You know, every time Sam wears one of those Ts, it bugs the heck out of me because it doesn’t go with the waitress uniforms. The forest green in his shirt clashes with the kelly green in theirs. It makes him look really bad standing next to Sookie. You bet I can believe Bill is behind that! LOL!

Are there other reasons to suspect those days? Do you think the blood copy timeline is the right one? Does it jive the the 8/16/09 bombing date?
Renee, last night I started to merge the origional true blood timeline, your timeline, Bloodcopy’s timeline, the AVL timeline and the FOTS timelines. It will blow your mind!!!
Season 1 apprears to have taken place later in the summer of 2008 later than we were lead to believe.
Season 2 is all over the place, there are huge holes where events in TB just don’t match up. It looks like the AVL, FotS, and Bloodcopy are agreeing with each other. I am at the point where I trust their version more that TB…lol. As an example, we have all placed the night Ms Jeanette’s body being found at the end of season 1 in 2008, but Bloodcopy places her body being found June 18, 2009!
Sookie appears to have lost more time more frequently than we thought. (Do you have a D/N breakdown of season 2, like your breakdown of season 1?)
I am specifically looking for instances of Bill giving Sookie his blood.
Also, I don’t have a DVR and do not have any access to season 3 to break it down.
I haven’t started the more detailed timelines for S2 or S3 yet, but I’ll get on it tonight. Should I do S3 first? I probably won’t have it finished before the weekend.

Sookie has been on a very High Horse for the last 3 seasons same as Billy.. & IMO the only vindication would be for AB to create n1 & n2 the same night..
i mean Sookie saving Eric in the s3 finale after he locked her up like he did Laffy in the basement is not enough for this book fan to credit a sex scene in s4 between them.. if that is all AB does then basically Sookie get’s what she deserves by using the Viking for sex in s4 as a rebound to get over Billy & she actually catches feelings for him while he has Amnesia..
Basically all AB would be saying is that Sookie approached AE in the same manner she approached Billy when she first met him ( a fantasy man).. she doesnt live in reality..

With Eric repeating the same mistake twice and Bud making the same error S1, The writers have told us in s1, s2, and s3 that the Ratt attack was N1. The truth will be revealed eventually.
I doubt it will be revealed directly via exposition but something will occur, or someone will say something, that will make it all fall into place.
