POV switched at the end of 3.6 when we were walking in Tara’s shoes down the hall with the almonds on the way to Sookie’s room. From that point, probably to when Sookie starts screaming in the hospital bed, it is Tara’s story. That’s why this week we had that lovely pornilicious shot of Jason in his recliner, why Sam went from zero to the hero with big balls, why we saw a new side of Eric, and why Bill was characterized so negatively. Apparently Tara is much better at judging men than Sookie is. After Sookie regained her voice, Eric and Pam were pretty much the same distant sarcastic bitches they were when Bill staked Long Shadow.

Bill doesn’t have his annoying overly dramatic Southern accent when the story is being told from Tara’s POV. Nor does Laffy have his sexy bod. Considering the incest going on in Hotshot, this is probably a good thing.

Are Summer’s biscuits charmed?

Sookie being born a table where food should be foreshadows her role as vampire food. This also connects to Destiny and alludes to the baby Jesus being placed in a feeding trough. When Jason was telling his story, the same mysterious music played as s1 when Gran told Sookie about Uncle Frances, so the music is cued to Sookie’s mysterious past, not glamouring.

Tara knows can clearly see the difference between good men and bad ones. She also knows from intuition, not experience, that the blood isn’t bad, the vampire is bad.

Sookie drinks the light filled water and exclaims, ‘My God!’ Claudine says she’s had it before. Is she alluding to baptism?

Sookie plunges into fairyland when Tara puts her hand on Jason and Sookie’s. Is it because of her power or do the three of them compose some kind of magical triad?

Tarot Parallels

7. The Chariot
This card represents the struggle to find the balance of unity between polar opposites.*

S1 E7: Lettie Mae undergoes an exorcism and Miss Jeanette makes a convincing speech to Tara regarding the need for her to free herself from her own demons…yet, as we learn later Miss Jeanette is a fraud.*

S2 E7: Bill’s self serving speech to Lorena in which he declares that he is sick of their empty lives of sadism and nihilism…yet despite his noble words, he hooks up with Malcom and company shortly after leaving Lorena.*

s2 E7: Tara is suspicious of Miss Jeanette and suspects that she’s running a scam yet ultimately agrees to pay an exorcism. She desperately wants to believe that the solution Miss Jeanette offers will ultimately free her from her problems. Lorena suspects that Bill is manipulating her but grants him the release he asks for because of her desperate need to see him as an “honorable man.” In both cases, the characters are attempting to balance skeptism and faith, reality and illusion, lies and truth.*
