OfflineNice Guardian interview with Fiona Shaw here.
Nice article about DO'H's play. Seems he's drawn to projects with 'alternate universes':
Denis O'Hare Hits a Homer
The Tony Award-winning actor returns to the stage in his unsuual new play An Iliad.

It's been a while since Denis O'Hare took to the stage, although he's been keeping his acting profile high on television, with roles as HBO's True Blood, as Russell Edgington, the vampire king of Mississippi, on FX's American Horror Story as the hideously burned Larry, and CBS' The Good Wifeas the quirky Judge Abernathy.
Now, the Tony Award-winning star is returning to the theater in An Iliad, a one-man show at the New York Theatre Workshop that he co-wrote with director Lisa Peterson.
The project, which has been gestating since 2005, puts O'Hare in the lead role of "the Poet," but not all audiences will witness him in action, since he is alternating the role with another Tony winner, Stephen Spinella. It's an unusual arrangement, but Spinella received excellent notices when he performed the piece at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey in 2010. We just felt sort of disrespectful to bring it to New York and cast him off," says O'Hare.
As O'Hare points out, the work is not a strict retelling of Homer's massive epic about the Trojan War dating roughly from 800 B.C. "This is an alternate universe," he explains. "We decided to call our guy 'the Poet' instead of Homer, in keeping with that alternate universe. For me, there's no question it's Homer, but I think in Stephen's mind, it's not Homer. So Lisa has decided to leave the door open as wide as possible." The result is that, although the text is 99 percent identical according to O'Hare, the actors are actually appearing in different productions, with different staging and music.

I've only watched the first minute or so of this off the wall show, but it's got a two-part interview with Jim Parrack I thought ya'll would like to see:

OfflineIt's supposed to be a comedy show, at least that's what it says here
The Vault girls are whinneying over this one:
Especially in early seasons, Eric was a suave jerk, a sexual predator, a captor, and a torturer — but goddamn, that is one good-looking jerk. As the show's gone on, he's shown a slightly softer side, and his pouty "Sookie" is far sweeter than Bill's huffy pronunciation.
Temperamental, vengeful, scheming, Hoffman's Ace is definitely using vinegar, not honey, to deal with his fellow track flies. He's also a wounded, guarded guy, who's been wronged by a lot of people, and is maybe brusque because he has to be.
Nucky's a complex villain, certainly; a murderer, a manipulator, an ice-cold businessman. He's dangerous and frightening, yes, but he's incredibly polite, and seems unlikely to disgrace himself with pettiness, particularly when there are important betrayals to watch out for.
Oy. The Larry David character is the single clearest example of the assholious neutoriticus subgenus of asshole. He's self-obsessed and often unkind, quick to criticize and slow to praise, myopic and close-minded about almost everything. He's funny and wonderful and is the world's nebbishy Jewish father figure, but man, that guy can be a real piece of work.
There's a special circle of jerkwad hell reserved for sexual harassers, and Dougie's headed there someday. He's needlessly nasty and belittling, insecure to the point of panic-induced cruelty.
The worst part is that it's cyclical and chronic! You can't win. Social injustice: what an asshole.
Kenny Powers is racist, sexist, homophobic, greedy, selfish, prone to throwing food at people, unkind to children, spiteful, and egomaniacal. He is made of magic.
Joffrey is the worst. The worst. And he's surrounded to by other characters who are often pretty awful. (We're looking at you, Cersei.) But Joffrey takes the crown here — and in Westeros! — by executing his girlfriend's father, after promising not to. No wonder everyone wants to slap him continuously.
True Blood on HBO now has a cocktail to celebrate the romantic nature of the vampire, also a perfect drink for Valentine’s Day. There are no Southern Vampire Mysterieshere, only southern goodness with bourbon and Sookie’s Virtue.
Sookie’s Virtue
1½ parts Basil Hayden’s bourbon
8 red grapes
2 raspberries
¾ part lemon juice
¾ part floral tea syrup* (see recipe below)
Instructions:
- Muddle red grapes, raspberries, lemon juice and floral tea syrup in a mixing tin.
– Add Basil Hayden’s bourbon and shake vigorously for 7 seconds.
– Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a grape and raspberry.
* Floral tea syrup: Combine 1 part of your favorite freshly brewed floral tea (jasmine, lavender, chamomile, etc.) with 1 part sugar. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved and refrigerate.

^^I know, switch the bourbon for some Merlot and you've almost got a Sangria. [My mom the bartender could make a mean Sangria]
Marshall Allman's new movie looks really good:
Based on Donald Miller's best-selling, semi-autobiographical novel, Blue Like Jazz offers a contemporary tale of aChristian coming to terms with his faith after fleeing his bible-thumping upbringing. Marshall Allman, who memorably played Sam's pugnacious brother on True Blood, shifts gears here to play a sweet and earnest Evangelical Texan, who abruptly leaves his local junior college to explore a more liberal education in the Pacific Northwest. There, in the midst of one of America's most progressive campuses, surrounded by a diversity of peers he never considered, Miller is soon forced to discover himself and what his faith means to him.
This quirky coming-of-age dramedy is set to debut at SXSW in short order, with a theatrical release to follow in the spring. But you can get a taste of its whimsy and warmth now, thanks to its spirited first trailer:

Michael Raymond James has joined an NBC pilot called Midnight Sun.
Where are they now?: Lynn Collins
Klein High School graduate Lynn Collins started her life as an actress at the Juilliard School's Drama Division.
Since the late 1990s, she has appeared in TV shows and films such as "The Lake House" and the short-lived series "Haunted."
In 2008, Collins landed her breakout role, guest-starring as Dawn Green in "True Blood." An appearance in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" soon followed.
In March, Collins will play Dejah Thoris in the sci-fi epic "John Carter." link

HBO is known for many things: high production values, critical adoration, big stars. But with the return of Eastbound & DownSunday night (finally!), it's becoming clear that HBO has another calling card: assholes. (Polite term: antiheroes. But really, assholes.) Every show's got one — they're like opinions that way — but not all of HBO's assholes are playing in the same league. Here, we rank the central assholes of HBO's current programming in ascending order, starting with the least assholic and ending with the most. We'd give the winner an award, but he'd likely just make us feel bad that the trophy wasn't bigger.
8. True Blood asshole: Eric (Alexander Skarssgard)
Wait, what? When? I can understand the other stuff, but where the hell are they getting 'sexual predator' from? Eric never did anything remotely like rape, ever. Does that word mean what they think it means?
Apparently not. In days of yore I would have posted a sarcastic comment on that thread but I no longer find it worth the effort it takes to type it. The best thing to do about the kind of women who worship at the feet of the likes of Bill Compton is to avoid them.
AB really is a cheeky badger. Reading the following reminded me of something:
Movie, TV projects filtering to smaller La. communities
However, it gets tougher to decipher a backlot staged swamp setting as opposed to the real thing in south Louisiana.
In addition to showcasing the state’s biggest, better-known cities like New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, the state’s film and entertainment industry has focused on smaller communities in the past year.
~snip~
Other small-town cities that have seen film crews come to their area include “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which was filmed on the Northshore; “Secretariat,” which was filmed in Opelousas; “True Blood,” which is filmed in Clinton; in addition to other projects filmed in cities like Donaldsonville, Folsom, Mansfield and Port Allen. The state saw more than 100 films produced in 2011.

OfflineI didn't want to start a new topic for this, but I saw the funniest commercial last night.
Damn, I can't remember the company, they wear green uniforms, it was a cleaning company that comes to your house and cleans up after fire or whatever.
The first shot is a very quick cut of a Sookie like women on a phone (remember the pic S3? year of Sookie in a pink bathrobe with bandages on her throat and a phone to her ear) a fire behind her. The next shot is of the cleaning co. coming to a house that looks an awful lot like Bill's refurbished mansion and doing smoke clean up. It was as funny as hell when you finally realized that TB has spawned a takeoff in advertising.
Pilot News: True Blood, Melrose Place Vets Latest to Join Marc Cherry's Devious Maids
True Blood alumna Mariana Klaveno and former Melrose Place stud Grant Show are the latest familiar faces to join ABC’s Devious Maids, a drama pilot from Desperate Housewivescreator Marc Cherry.
Pilot Season Lingo Guide (Including the ‘Scary’ Second Position), Plus a List of Picked-Up Pilots
Based loosely on the Mexican telenovela The Disorderly Maids Of The Neighborhood, the sudser follows four Beverly Hills-based housekeepers (played by Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez and Roselyn Sanchez) working for the rich and famous.
Show will play successful soap star Spence Davis, with Klaveno portraying his wife, a gorgeous, self-centered actress.
As previously reported, All My Children vet Susan Lucci is also set to co-star as a “gently crazy” employer of one of the maids.
In addition to her, um, neck-twisting role on True Blood, Klaveno has appeared on Dexter and Hawaii Five-0. Show’s recent TV credits, meanwhile, include CSI, Burn Notice, Big Love and Private Practice
