@Jerron—"I know this is so wrong but there is nothing funnier to me than a cute kid cussing!  Cracks me up every time.  Somehow it loses it's charm when they turn 15."

Lol Jerron, I was one of those kids. Even my family regularly threatening me with the Devil didn't scare away the quarrelsome little sailor in me.Laugh

Expanding on the vampire's smoking thing since people are still taking issue with it, hasn't it been mentioned that in the books Bill would 'pretend to breathe'? Breathing means inhaling  and exhaling air unless I have my facts mixed up.Laugh So if a vampire can do that in the books, a show vampire can inhale and exhale smoke.

The Hollywood Reporter on the Casting on 'the Vampire Authority's Child Killer'

Hopkins plays Alexander Drew, one of the Authority's chancellors who was turned to darkness at the age of 9-years-old. Alexander is described as an impetuous vamp who likes to taunt those around him.

He joins SVU star Cristopher Meloni, Spartacus actor Peter Mensah, and General Hospital and Cougar Town actress Carolyn Hennesy on the Authority.

It's hard to impossible to say or write 'child killer' and imagine an image of a child who kills. A person who kills children should always be a 'child killer'. If a child kills then somebody had already killed him. I guess this is AB's way of pointing somewhere else. Somebody killed a child to make that angelic faced vampire. Fiendishly murdered an innocent child. NINE years old. It doens't matter a whit in what era he was made, child killing is child killing. Who else killed a blue-eyed blonde little boy, nine years old?

Damn, more innuendo? I was hoping we'd moved past that to the meat on the bones.Confused

Back in 2001 the torso of a very young boy was discovered in the Thames and it turned out that his murder might have had links to a ritual killing. When I saw Tara killing her younger self in S1 it reminded me of the case, though that's probably not what they had in mind.

So Thomas was born the year AFTER the war started? What was Bill doing, running home from the war to impregnate his wife?

There is that picture Mayor Norris gave Bill at the DGD meeting.  It has baby Thomas on mom's knee and Bill in uniform.

Maybe she was pregnant before he joined up?  Come to think of it there's something odd there, but I can't put my finger on it…or I'm overthinking.

You're right, she could have been pregnant before he joined up, but I don't believe you're overthinking this. I don't know what it is either, but there is something there. It might go back to the reason Caroline is first a blonde and then a brunette–Bill flubbed this detail because he can't be bothered to remember what Caroline Compton actually looked like. Like how he couldn't be bothered to remember the name of the 'house slave' his 'father' owned.

First off, Stephen Moyer directing, good? bad? wtf? abandon all hope ye who enter here? I just jizzed in my pants?

Second, HOLY SHIT BILL'S DAUGHTER OH GOD IS BILL GOING TO EAT HIS DYING ELDERLY DAUGHTER?

Third, I love the song:

Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye:

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end
Always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
And I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know…

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

@Exit - (Please please please PLEASE be for Sookie reflecting on her relationship with Bill)

Ditto

What's with the Sam double?  And Sarah Compton Harris in a flashback to '31, that's about the time that Bill met/made? Diane of the terrible trio and the supposed time in Los Angeles when he was released by Lorena.

Maybe with SM directing Bill won't be in the episode so much.

Somebody I used to know…hmm, this HAS to refer to someone remembering Sarah. Oh Lordy lordy lordy. Dare I get my hopes up?

SM directing? Do I love it? I'll reserve judgement, but frankly it kind of pisses me off that he's stuck his two bits in right when the BILLSHIT is about to hit the fan. Yell How much mitigating can he cram into one episode? It's one thing to be a cool-ass villain but careers have been ruined by being over-identified with unmitigated villains. Just ask that guy who had to play Edith Bunker's attempted rapist.

BTW, I love that we know the title to 5.08, but what about eps 6 and 7?

@BG–I really hope so! Hmm, lets see. Caroline Bellefleur must be what? 80? Depending on what year it's supposed to be Yell she may have sat by Sarah's sick bed as a young child and perhaps Sarah told her some hair-raising stories of her dad-turned-vampire? pleasepleasepleaseplease…

I would say Caroline is well into her 80's and the chances are she would be old enough to remember her.  Hell, my sis is 78 or 39+ as she likes to say, and she remembers  our grandmother who passed on in the late '30's.

I was thinking about that scene with Caroline, Portia and Bill.  Wondering what was his motive to go see her, other than Portia's request they meet. We saw him glamour Portia, I'm sure he either glamoured Caroline or wanted to see if she put two and two together meeting him.  Displaying her faulty memory, maybe he thought it redundant.

Perhaps Caroline is on her deathbed and then does remember.

Well, for one thing it seems Bill has managed to get himself invited into every home in BT. Even Lala's house is not safe from him. I'm not sure about Sam's trailer, I seem to recall that Sam steered him into Merlotte's the night Bill came calling for  a sacrifice. But I think the point of the whole thing was to remind us that Bill's offspring blossomed into Bellefleurs after his 'death'. Makes you wonder what other 'progeny' Bill is responsible for.

Your right about Caroline, she may be well past 85 in which case she would be a bit older than a small child who wouldn't remember a neighbor or even a relative. We don't know if Caroline was related to the Bellefleurs but she was clearly of the proper social set to marry into them so she would at least have come into contact with Sarah.

the "Mavis" drama was also unfolding during the 1930's-was it not? I don't know that

the time frame was ever specifically spoken of aloud or dates were actually shown, but it felt that way

when I was watching.

@Sunny-thanks for the info on the song…listened to it on youtube-Liked it! Laugh
