Two related things connected some dots for me.
1. What did we learn from revisiting season 2? It strikes me that…the most startling thing we learned is that Jessica's true activities were being disguised, but are plain to see upon closer analysis.
2. Recently, MicMac stated that the comic he authored, Tainted Love, was Jessica's origin story in disguise. This is obvious in hindsight. Tainted Love is the second series of the TB comics.
From these two facts, I think we see that we can pick up the major themes of the show's season from the major themes of the corresponding CB series.
Series 1, the Bill/Imp Shaloop blows into town, traps the residents and feeds on their worst fears and weaknesses.
Bud and Andy escape the wrath of the of the shape-shifting monster, but they can't help their fellow citizens. Outside all hell [nature] is breaking loose.
Series 3/Season 3 the trio of Bill, Sookie, and Eric are out of town. They're dealing with a dangerous vampire serial killer. There are indications that Bill is trying to aim the serial killing vampire at Eric–after aiming Eric at the serial killing vampire. Eric is infected with Hep-D/Eric drank from Sookie, who was full of Bill's blood.
Let's tease this out further! There must be hundreds of clues in the CB's that point us in the direction of the truth of each season, the thing we should be looking at. MicMac boiled down the single most important element of 'Tainted Love', Jessica's origins, giving us a clue that the actions she took, through no fault of her own are what we were supposed to be paying attention to on the show. She was out of her own control no matter what we think we saw in s2 and Hank the trucker was just the most clearly stated result we were allowed to see. For CB Jessica, the blood was tainted, driving her mad. For TB Jessica, the blood is tainted, driving her mad. For poor TB Jessica, only a dead Bill can save her.
Me too, BG!
I think after FQ, the CB's go to a monthly, ongoing series? I'm not sure, but at some point they will.
So what is FQ disguising? What is it revealing? We see the obvious parallels–out of town etc.–but what is the take-away? The Necronomicon?

@sunny – The Necronomicon?
Possibly. That is if Eric can get a hold of it before Bill. TB may have him looking for something other than a book.
An amulet, idol or some such.
True. Like I was theorizing in the s3 thread, it seemed Bill could have been searching for something in the mansion. We think he and Lorena were partners in trying to 'procure' whatever the object is, now Lorena's portrait has turned up in FQ in connection to the vampire serial killer. Eric was searching for something in Germany. Does he now know what he's looking for because it didn't seem like he did back in Germany. Can we pinpoint an object coming into Bill's hands at any point in season 3?
"Can we pinpoint an object coming into Bill's hands at any point in season 3?"
I ask this because Bill took almost complete control of season 4, becoming ruler of all he surveys. As we know, this can't be to the result of his own brilliant planning alone.

That statement he [Eric] made in Germany, "I can feel it", was odd. Something pulsing with energy, a force of some kind?
A jewel, a mirror, crystal ball, (just thinking out loud), the clues are there and I think it may be in plain sight.
That's what I'm thinking. In hindsight it was clear he couldn't have been talking about the werebitch as we first thought. No way he and Godric didn't know [RE's] wolf was in that tiny little house. They were waiting for the wolf leader to follow his bitch to come fetch whatever it is he was trying to procure, ala RE arriving after the wolf attack to snatch King Ulfric's crown. The GI threw a monkey wrench in the plan.
It occurs to me that the object may seem like a mundane everyday object. Surely an obvious magical talisman of some sort wouldn't be that hard to pick out in that little German house.

What about a ceremonial knife? Knives have been present from the beginning. Gran was brutally knifed, Tara knifed her inner child, Jason the spear chucker knifed/speared Felton.
Bill's huge knife, Holly and Marnie's athame's. And if you really want to stretch it out, the kitchen utensils the Bug-Eyed Zombies were threatening Sam with.
OK, I'm off to finish Beautifully Broken and I'll be paying particular attention to the details of the German house.
Lucasa, it was an ax, but I by golly, I think you've hit the Motherlode:
Truth be told, I was one of those people. I had something to offer the creators of Tru Blood…
…something that could help their business..and mine.
But first, I’d need answers.
Because the way this all came about too…convenient. These guys have been in on it from the beginning. The potential has always been way beyond simply business…feeding information to the websites, piquing the interest of the humans…they orchestrated this whole event – and I’m not leaving until I know why they did it. What was in it for them? Because the fact is…
…I know some secrets too…
HOW CAN AN AX HELP THEM IN THEIR BUSINESS UNLESS IT IS MAGICAL?

OnlineOff to do more research but found a red-head fairy related to the topic of Moors
In Portugal and Spain, mouro (feminine, moura) may also refer to supernatural beings known as enchanted moura, where "moor" implies 'alien' and 'non-Christian'; These beings were siren-like fairies with golden or reddish hair and a fair face. They were believed to have magical properties.[5] From this root, the name moor is also applied to unbaptised children, meaning not Christian.[6][7] In Basque, mairu means moor and also refers to a mythical people.[8][dead link]

The stake! Eric would feel the silver. What was in the trunk in the room in Germany? Is that stake now part of RE's "collection?"
Hmmm, the stake. I think you're absolutely right! The box the ax is in is lined with red velvet, the stake had purple?
Now we understand why little Billy played king out in the yard. He wanted to show Eric he had it, and do a little nyah nyah whacha gonna do about it gloating while pretending he was about to kill him with it. He let Eric go because he thought he could torture him some more and get away with it? Or Bill truly did not get the authorization and Eric knew it.
So now what? Bill just killed Nan with it so now they have to go on the run, Eric won't let Bill and the thing, the stake, out of his sight but he can't just take the thing away from Bill because he needs A WIZARD LIKE RE TO BREAK THE POWER. The power of the thing, the stake, the Macguffin.
Ahh, see now, I think I might know why the thing is powerful: it has to have a demon attached, or bound, with the power of necromancy? Bill just needed a scapegoat coven and a scapegoat spirit, which we knew already but now we have a material focus for the source of his power. Which is always good.
