First there was the casting call for the makings of a new church that seems to appreciate diversity.
“Effeminate”, Choir Director TRUE BLOOD 4/11/2011 THRU 4/29/2011, Background / Male / Caucasian / 35 – 70 / A skinnier, Caucasian Guy who is “Sleight” and Effeminate to play a Southern Choir Director. This is a great Character; looking for great Character Faces.
Southern Church Choir Members TRUE BLOOD 4/11/2011 THRU 4/29/2011, Background / Male or Female / AfricanAm, Caucasian / 25 – 80 / Character types to play a Southern Church Choir on True Blood. All types, but focusing on Interesting faces, and body types.
Southern Types that are OK with Night Calls in Calabasas TRUE BLOOD 4/11/2011 THRU 4/29/2011, Background / Male or Female / AfricanAm, Caucasian, Hispanic / 25 – 65 / Some interesting Southern Character types as well as Some Attractive people for a featured bit. Must be ok with All Night calls in Calabasas.
Then a clue about what this church was up to. No vampire-hating Fellowship of the Sun, this.
[JOYCE WATNEY] 20, this self-satisfied young woman “who loves the sound of her own, bleeding-heart voice” hosts the “Just Say No to Hate” festival of tolerance and media event, to join together vampires and humans in common cause. She’s proud of founding the “Living Dead Student Alliance” at her school. 3 speeches & 1 line, 1 scene.
This inclusive church must be participating in a tolerance festival. Since the exterior of Bill’s house is in Calabasas, perhaps it’s taking place on his grounds and being hosted by the new king of Louisiana.
Even though Joyce Watney sounds like a cross between Amanda Jane and Sarah Newlin, and Beeeaalll Compton may be involved, don’t write it off “Just Say No to Hate” or the the vampire-inclusive church.
To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, “The Catholic Church vampire church is for saints and sinners alone. For respectable people, the Anglican Church Maxine’s church will do.” In other words, don’t overlook the good in the church just because hypocrites exploit it.
Assuming there is truth and goodness in this church, represented by Hoyt and Jessica and others like them, which cross would Alan Ball choose to symbolize it?
That is the question asked on Inside True Blood. Apparently Ball has such tight control over the show, that the prop master and set designer aren’t to be trusted to choose an insignificant prop that’s only going to be seen in a few scenes. Ball has to do it to make sure it corresponds to his vision of the show.
Of course this comes as no surprise to followers of this blog. In fact, for those who have been paying attention to details like the Fellowship of the Sun logo and other symbols that have been prevalent throughout the series, the choice should be obvious.
Which cross will Alan choose?

What can a sneak peek into Sookie’s season 4 closet reveal?
1. This is not the closet of a newly empowered woman. In S4 three of Sookie’s dresses or skirts are pink. Just so no one missed the significance, TB drove home the point of pink being a weak color when Pam complained that people didn’t take her seriously because she wore too much pink. At least hers is usually a vivid magenta. Sookie is limited to wishy washy pastels. Before Sookie noticed how much pink Bill bought for Jessica, she only wore the color to bed. The morning after she learned that Bill liked ‘his women’ in pink, she wore it when she invited Tara to move in.
Season 1 only Sookie’s night clothes were pink.
Season 2 pink moves from nightwear to daywear.
Season 3 Sookie ran all over Bon Temps and Shreveport in that overly girly faded pink shirt, even if she probably didn’t intend to wear it out in public when she first put it on.
In season 4, pink, with all its associations with weakness and vulnerability, is a prominent color in three of her good outfits. This is not a the wardrobe of a strong self-reliant woman. It is the wardrobe of a Stepford Sookie who is still involved with Bill.
2. Sookie’s customary light-filled yellow outfits have been reduced to patches, continuing the ‘caged’ or ‘fenced in’ theme we’ve discussed in regards to the patterns showing up in Sookie’s house. Notice how the amount of yellow diminishes with each new season, while the amount of pink increases.
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
In season 4 there are no solid yellow pieces. It just plays second fiddle to pastel pink in two prints. Bill is stealing Sookie’s light.
3. Sookie is still missing Gran and dressing like her. The day after Gran was murdered, Sookie recreated her last outfit, which was comprised of a white top with cut work and a green floral skirt .
That s4 green print hanging in Sookie’s closet looks even more like Gran’s skirt than the one Sookie wore in the first season.
4. The black outfit, combined with the spoiler about the hymn singer from Gran’s funeral being in episode 1, indicates that Sookie has another funeral to go to. Hadley’s?
5. Pink plaid is what Sookie wore in her dream to comfort Eric after Godric’s suicide. Is it any surprise she will wear another pink plaid dress during the season that is all about comforting Eric?
Is it significant that Sookie and Jessica wore similar pink plaid dresses when a vampire pleaded with their maker not to leave them?
Does Sookie wear her new plaid dress when Amnesia Eric clings to her for dear life? In a very real sense, Sookie will be Amnesia Eric’s maker.
6. Every season Sookie wears a white dress during the albedo phase of the annual alchemical cycle, and s4 will be no different.
S1 Sookie wears white when she gets ‘baptized in Long Shadow’s blood.

S2 Sookie wears white during the Dallas bombing.

S3 Sookie wears white when she visits Faerie Land.

7. What’s missing from Sookie’s S4 closet? All her vibrant brightly colored outfits. Come to think of it, they have been waning to the same degree as the light-filled yellow ones.
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3 they were faded and limited.

A split second flash of s4 filming indicates that Bill has been redecorating. In ‘You Smell Like Dinner’ (4.02), Eric pays him a visit. Behind the clap board, sitting at his desk, pen in hand, Bill is preparing to sign a document.
Even though his face is obscured, the bloody cuticules indicate this is a vampire, and the room itself screams Bill Compton.
Compare it to the room in Bill’s s3 flashback. The doors and windows match up.
The wall paper is the color and style favored by Bill.
The pattern, a large diamond shaped floral appears to be a combination of the old entry wallpaper and the even older paper from 1868.

I don’t think this is any normal redecorating project. At the beginning of s3, Bill’s house magically transformed when Hank’s blood was spilled in it. I speculated that his blood inadvertantly activated a spell. Among other things, it changed the entry wall to a dull yellow color.
In the image below, the wainscoting and same yellow wall in the entry are visible through the camera.
The diamond and caged floral patterns that Bill seems to favor are a reflection of his closed mind and control of either Sophie Ann or Sookie. The quatrefoils, which also appear on the new wall paper, seem to symbolize grace or sacrifice and are probably a due to the blood that sustains this magical renovation.

Based on the parallels from previous seasons, here are some predictions for Amnesia Eric. The first thing to know is that Bill & Sookie are probably still together at the beginning of s4. That won’t last long, though. Bill has a new job that’s going to come between them. The other thing is that AE won’t be hiding out at Sookie’s. He’ll be staying in Jason’s basement.
4.01 A vampire will be missing and a human with a name ending in -ette will be in some form of bondage. The vampire will be SA.* Tommy will start the season with a hole in his chest, no doubt made by the bullet Sam fired at him. Sam will try to save Tommy by taking him to Jessica. The car scene will be very dramatic. Jessica will end up turning Tommy. Once he’s a vampire, he is going to intrude on Hoyt and Jess’s sex life, either overhearing them or watching. Someone is going to take money to someone’s home. Perhaps Sam feels so guilty that he gives Tommy the money that he stole? He will be extremely remorseful and even act subservient to Tommy. Jason and Hoyt will talk at work. Whatever is the topic of their conversation, Jason will be wrong, and Hoyt will be right. Over the course of the season, Jason will learn how wrong he was. Jason will also have a flashback to the last time he saw someone dead, namely Calvin. Someone will plant a hypnotic suggestion in Jason’s brain. Jason and Andy will have a scene that will determine whether Andy will be helping Jason this season or working against him. In some way, Jason will be extremely lucky in this episode. Sookie will learn of Hadley’s death,* and she’ll feel responsible for it in some measure. There will be a memorial service or funeral. The police will give her a hard time, probably after the service. Sookie’s first assumption will be that Eric is responsible for Hadley’s murder, so she will confront him about it. She will believe his denial, which will be important later in the season if Eric is framed and AE doesn’t know if he’s guilty or not. Bill will be struggling to keep a secret, probably that he is holding SA captive or has killed her. Sookie will telephone him at an inopportune time. Tara will wear purple. Someone will be called a hooker or a whore, shocker. Holly will be spying at Merlotte’s and overhear an incriminating telephone conversation. It will probably Jess calling for advice with Tommy. An elderly person on oxygen will be mistreated. Someone will try to extricate themselves from a bad situation, but will not be allowed to. This will be Jesus trying to cut his ties with his master who could be Hallow, but I think is Bill.* The episode will end with a fight in the parking lot of FT.
4.02 The fight will continue and someone will be killed. The police will interview suspects. Eric will make the news. A spoiler says that Antonia will be introduced in this episode, and it is likely that she is Jesus’ mother figure, if not his actual mother. I think she has come to help him extricate himself from the mess he’s in with Bill, which Antonia will describe as slavery. Sookie will barge into Bill’s house and come face to face with a witch. My money’s on that being Antonia. Bill will warn the witch not to bring Sookie into their dispute. The witch will display her power, and Bill will speechify about protecting Sookie. Sook and Jess will go to FT in Sookie’s car to seek info from Eric about witches. There will be girl talk in the ladies’ room. Maybe Pam helps Jessica with that pesky problem of hers. Someone will imitate Bill’s voice, or, in a reversal, Bill will imitate someone’s voice, perhaps SA’s. Bill will get a new job. Tara will pick up a passenger on her road trip. I think it’s someone she will eventually develop a sexual relationship with. If she’s learned anything, she’ll take her time getting there. Jess and Hoyt will set the tone for their relationship with Tommy. They will either follow in Bill and Sookie’s footsteps as negligent parents or show themselves capable of meeting Tommy’s needs, at the expense of their relationship. Jason will be protective of Hot Shot. He will start cleaning it up and will give a warning that should be taken but isn’t. We will learn something new about Stackhouse history.
4.03 Bill’s house will be invaded by vampires working for him. The electricity might be out for some reason. To Bill’s dismay, someone will show an interest in Sookie’s abilities or her blood. Bill will claim Sookie is his and attempt to allay her fears. Bill will attack a woman. Sookie will stop him from hurting her.
4.04 After Eric has been cursed, he is going to fly from FT to Lala who will be on the road driving to work. Eric will come in through the window, the opposite of how he exited the last time he was in Lala’s car. Lala will be freaking, and so will AE. Lala will try to get rid of AE, but when he cries, Lala will hide him in the fridge. Sookie will find him when she’s closing up for the night.
4.05 After finding AE, Sookie will wash his feet and give him a Tru Blood. They will play pool. She’ll invite him to spend the day at Jason’s. He’ll hug her in gratitude. Bill and Sookie will have a big fight over Bill’s new position and break up. Someone will be returning to their place of employment after an absence. This will probably be Yvetta being brought back to FT and put in the DoD. Someone else will be infiltrating Bill’s new organization. I think this will be Pam who becomes one of his sheriffs. Debbie will come after Sookie in this episode. She will run away while wearing a white gown. Eric will come to the rescue, and later they will have an intimate conversation that will be interrupted by Jason coming home. He will be surprised to find Eric in his house and so cozy with Sookie.
4.06 The next day when Sookie brings Tru Blood to Eric, Debbie, on a V high, will ambush her, throw her down the basement stairs, and lock her in. Sookie will discover a nearly drained AE there.
4.07 This is the episode about cross roads. This is when Bill will finally be in Sookie’s rear view mirror and real Eric in her future. At Sookie’s urging, Eric will feed on her. The shower scene will occur after AE is restored to health. They are both going to be all bloody, but it won’t be a replay of the Pscyho scene with Bill. They will make love, and Sookie will tell AE about how Bill abused her. When AE is asleep during the day, they will have an out of body light filled experience in Fairy Land. When Sookie goes back home during day, Bill will surprise her by being awake and waiting for her. He will smell Eric on her and attack her. I think he’s going to bite her again. There’s a scene with Pam at Fangtasia, and this is the episode that Sam does something heroic.
4.08 This will be the Witch War. Before the battle, Eric will get on bended knee when he tells Sookie that they could make a life together. At some point Eric will offer his life to Hallow in exchange for Sookie’s or Pam’s. Someone will threaten to rip off Sam’s dick…again. Bill and Eric will get into a physical fight. Sookie and Eric will have sex after the Witch War. It will contrast with the 1.08 graveyard sex and the 3.08 hate sex, and Eric will tell her she was perfect. Debbie will come back to BT and shoot Sookie. AE could take the bullet for Sookie like in the book, or he could heal her like he did with Laffy after Ginger shot him, making their blood blond stronger. Felton will sexually assult Jason. Random note: Tommy will start school.
4.09 Eric and Sookie will clean up Debbie’s remains and hide what’s left of her body. When Sookie is cleaning Debbie’s blood spatter off the kitchen walls, she will remember Gran’s murder. Bill will bite someone. Eric will be back in his office and thinking about business. Nan will show up and demand the whole AE-Witch War story. Sam’s personality is going to shift yet again. Someone’s screams will be overheard. If Bill has had SA hidden away all season, this could be her screaming for help like Eddie did. In 4.10 a new big bad is after Sookie. This is probably RE back from the cement pond, but it could SA or evil fae. Sookie and RealEric don’t appear to be on the best of terms. I don’t know if they’re fighting or he’s just busy with politics and FT. They are still having shared dreams, though, so that channel of communication is still open. My crystal ball is really getting murkey at this point. I can’t tell much about 4.11 or 4.12 except that Sookie will do her annual cemetery run and someone will get buried there, dead or alive. *These parallels support Midnight Charm’s theories about Hadley being killed in s3, Sam asking Jessica to turn Tommy into a vampire, and Jesus being forced to betray Lala against his better judgement.
