Can’t make out what Pam’s print is exactly. Connecting these three characters through their clothing links them together. I think they are becoming a family and Eric will eventually turn Lafayette.

*Sam chasing someone in the middle of the night who shifts into a bird parallels MA chasing Sam.

*Sookie gives some good advice to a man over breakfast. s2 it was Barry; s3 Alcide. Parallels her grandmother doing the same for her. Did Sookie give Sam any advice when they had breakfast together s1?

3.03 Arlene complains that she has to do everything herself.
3.04 Arlene really does having to do everything herself–waitress, hostess, busboy, and bartender.

*Alcide tries to shut Sookie up by calling her name in the same tone that Bill does. This is one indication that Alcide is one of Bill’s doppelgangers.

*Debbie asks Sookie, “Who the fuck are you?” using Sookie’s words and tone when she was speaking to Maryann. This is one indication that Debbie is Sookie’s doppelganger.

*Eric yells at the Magister “Let her go!” using Jason’s words and tone that Jason used after shooting Steve Newlin’s hand with a paintball in the FOTS church.**

7/28/10

1.07 Randy Sue, using Jason on the rebound from her failed marriage, calls him cowboy in a phone conversation. He then proceeds to Fangtasia.
3.04 Randy Sookie, fantasizing about Eric on the rebound from Bill, calls him cowboy when they communicate through their blood bond while he’s physically present at Fangtasia.

Tarot Parallels

4. The Emperor

The Emperor can represent the principle of masculine energy or represent a powerful and dominant older man in a position of authority. Traditionally, this figure is shown seated upon a throne.*

The Emperor, as a major Arcana, seems to have mostly positive attributes even when reversed, it’s his manifestations in the Lower Arcana where the negativity comes in.***

When the cards are reveresed they can mean the following:
King of Pentacles (earth) = an old and vicious man, corruption, perversity
King of Cups (water)= dishonesty, double dealing, injustice, vice
King of Swords (air) = cruelty, perversity, evil intention
King of Wands (fire) gets off lightly = good but severe, austere but tolerant.***

1.04: Sookie first meets Eric, the thousand year old sheriff of Area 5, enthroned at Fangtasia. Exuding power, he sits upon his throne and conveys the impression that he is, indeed, master of his domain.*

2.04: Eric is enthroned in Lafayette’s living room, as Lafayette kneels before him and imbibes the healing properties of his thousand year old blood. Eric conveys his mastery over life and death.*

3.04: Eric is enthroned at Fangtasia with Yvetta dancing for his pleasure. Eric displays his wisdom and power to Lafayette when he ends the attack on Lafayette in Hotshot and gives him a lesson on salesmanship in the car.

1.04 Eric [presides] at Fangtasia [surrounded by sycophantic worshipers].
2.04 Eric tells Bill that Godric could have been a king if he wanted and that he is beloved by his subjects.
3.04 RE [presides] at Lou Pines and [surrounded] by his Sycophantic wolves.
(This seems to be a comparison between a humble, good ruler who eschews power for power’s sake and has a sincere loyal following and an ego centric one who is worshiped because of his power. Eric is somewhere in the middle between Godric and Russell, so his path has yet to be determined. It’s also a lesson about ego, paralleling the lesson Eric was trying to teach Laffy in 3.04)

‘It Hurts Me Too’ has less than half the number of parallels the previous two episodes did. This may be due to the need for more organic writing as the season progresses or to the disjointed nature of this episode in particular.

Eric and Bill both bury someone in the Bon Temp cemetery while a female companion looks on. Did they both kill the person they buried? Is Caroline’s dead body hidden in the fresh grave behind Bill and Lorena like Johnson’s is the present?

Sookie’s rug is damaged by Johnson and Eric. Talbot’s tapestry is damaged by Bill and Lorena.

Other Parallels

The longest category of parallels by far is 2.02/3.02,  but be sure to scroll down for others including the parallels between Bill & Sookie and Eric & Sookie, and for tarot parallels for 1.02, 2.02, and 3.02.

Here is the same disclaimer as last week: Some of these may be coincidence and some may be a stretch, but I make every possible comparison and contrast that I can think of.

(Like last week, there is a disconnect in the first parallel between what actually happened and how it’s described. There was no evidence that Bill eviscerated the Weres.)
